Every dream chaser consciously or unconsciously desires to be amongst the best in his/her field. However, with everyone in the world trying to be the best in what they do, there’s a need to go the extra mile to prove to the masses/audience that you’ve got what it takes to be the best.
For one to be noticed from the multitude, certain attributes have to be exhibited.
Standing out from the crowd involves doing the extraordinary and advancing the usuals into redefined new inventions. Standing out is the best and quickest means to becoming easily noticed and respected from within a crowd.
Reasons To Standout:
There are tons of reasons to standout in chasing your dreams, in your workplace, or generally as an individual. The primary reason is that they’re so many individuals in pursuit of the same goals you desire to achieve. Take for instance, as a footballer, you certainly desire to be the best footballer, however, which footballer doesn’t? So, therefore, extra effort has to be exercised and certain guidelines have to be followed in order to outdo the rest and earn the spot as the best.
1. Uniqueness is highly valued
Being unique is better than being perfect. Take material for example; there are numerous phone brands with the Android operating system. However, iPhones, being the only brand with the IOS operating system, it is more eminently respected and valued compared to the rest brands.
This equally applies to humans in a way or two. People with abilities different from the rest, people who create the nonexistent, people who upgrade the already existing, and people who achieve tasks labeled “impossible,” such people are well respected, highly valued, and easily noticed from within a crowd.
2. Rampant is never adored
A particular ability, invention, or device may wow the public for a while, however, once emulated by many and such abilities goes rampant, it becomes totally disregarded.
This infers standing out as the best option. If you’re creating while others are emulating, the emulated will eventually go rampant, and then, your created will become unique.
3. Potentials, talents, and efforts become easily evident
Potentials and talents can gradually debilitate with time if it is acknowledged by none. However, once you’re perceived by the masses and you make it through the public spotlight, it becomes totally effortless to showcase your many potentials and talents. Standing out from the crowd assists in captivating the mass’ attention, thereby making potentials and talents easily noticed.
4. Unique is eye-catchy:
Naturally, the human brain is programmed in such a way that we tend to notice the difference before the indifferent. Looking at the above image, it is only natural that your eye focused chiefly on the red piece before the grey piece, despite the grey piece being more in number.
Different and unique individuals are noticed and considered foremost prior to the rest.
5. People’s trust becomes easily earned
Once the masses are made to believe in the originality of your work and made to understand you rarely imitate or follow the footstep of others, it provides such audience with a sense of security, thereby easily enabling them to trust you and have full confidence in your abilities.
How To Stand Out:
Standing out as stated earlier, involves going the extra mile, neglecting existing procedures, and coming up with new ideas.
Often times, people tend to believe there’s no particular way to stand out. I, however, believe, with few tips and guidelines, an individual should be able to generate and apply the best suitable and personally convenient standing out the technique for their various endeavors.
1. Be smartly hardworking
As a dream chaser or entrepreneur, you ultimately ought to learn to link smartness and hard work as a single piece.
Genuine hard work, for an individual who considers success, not as an option, is the basic step to getting distinguished from the rest in a workplace. A diligently working individual always in the process of setting and achieving personal goals thereby increasing a company’s growth will eventually be regarded as a committed employee and occasionally rewarded in a workplace. Likewise in a dream chase, others’ leisure is the best time to up your game.
Also, applying smartness whilst executing functions is extremely important because most times, only a little physical effort with more brain-work is required.
2. Be goal-oriented
Working with a key reason for achieving various set goals makes an individual less prone to distraction, thereby increasing their commitment and consistency.
Most individuals get stuck in situations of living and working with no agenda or purpose. Therefore, they are often reluctant to put in an effort to work.
Being goal-oriented will undoubtedly stand you out from such colleagues.
3. Be different from the crowd – Have something unique about you
The potentials and abilities of individuals with unique attributes are hardly doubted by the masses.
Steve Jobs is known for Apple IOS, just as Bill Gates is known for computer, and Nicholas Dutko is known for Vehicle Transport Services.
Having an awesome unique character, ability, invention, or good deed watermarked to your profile is a very effective way of earning attention and respect.
While chasing your dreams, learn to professionalize yourself by discovering your hidden talents and using them as trump cards.
4. Do more talk less
Excessive talkativeness apart being unhealthy, it consumes time and energy, makes massive issues seem little, thereby effectuating a disregard of the actual effort needed to be put into work.
Learning to substitute your muscles for your mouth will make you seem firm and resolute, thereby attracting more attention and respect. Rather than “motor-mouthing” like the crowd, learn to quietly listen and smartly observe the happenings around you.
By so doing, you can instantly observe a troubling situation people are undergoing, and work towards creating solutions to tackle such problems. Finding ways to solve people’s predicaments without their awareness will instantly build a form of confidence in them around you, and make such persons see you as a competent individual.
5. Keep the right company
Companies with the same mindset and goals often tend to inspire and motivate one another, assist one another, and teach one another. Therefore, you are basically likely to pick up the attributes of your friends. Sticking with the right peers or colleagues often help a great deal in earning one respect and reputation.
As it is often said, your company tells a lot about you. As Michael Bassey Johnson said, To be of good quality, you have to excuse yourself from the presence of shallow and callow minded individuals.
In as much as associating with people is important, associating with the right kind is paramount.
6. Be strategic
A strategy is an effortless way of outdoing the rest and enchanting an audience. The strategy involves creatively generating methods and skills to make ends meet at all cost.
However, the strategy doesn’t necessarily involve the act of manipulating and using others as a stepping stone to the top while bringing them down. It simply involves smartness and creativity to put into play.
7. Love what you do and be happy
Paul and I, we never thought that we would make much money out of the thing. We just loved writing software. -Bill Gates.
Loving your nine-to-five causes you to constantly strive to put in more effort to work, regardless of failure or low earnings. Fun is never for gain. Therefore, finding fun at work will boost your consistency and felicity, with little or no regards to income. This will eventually, in turn, attract massive attention and respect as a result of the devotedness and passion you display at work.
As Nicholas Dutko of Auto Transport Quote Services said, The law of work seems unfair, but nothing can change it; the more enjoyment you get out of your work, the more money you will make.
Bottommost, bear in mind, the people who make it to the top and live the inspiring lives are not necessarily people who take on the most sophisticated jobs or people born with a silver spoon. Often times, the people who succeed are people who are addicted to their work, people who stand out from the crowd; they’d put in their best effort in whatever they love, even if they are not getting paid.
Continue to smartly chase your dreams, standout in your dream chase, steal the public spotlight, amaze the world, and engrave your name into history.
“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, go out and sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures. Sweep streets like Handel and Beethoven composed music. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say, here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
